Even at the age of five, Kerrie Roberts stunned crowds with her vocals, singing solos with her church choir. “I was so small, they had me stand on a milk crate so the congregation could see me,” she laughs. Today when you hear Kerrie’s huge voice, it is clear there’s much more going on here than just enormous vocal talent and prolific songwriting ability. Dynamic yet intimate, uniquely emotive and soulful, Kerrie’s songs are defined by empathy and openness. For this we can thank her devoted family, and the time she spent as a part of her father’s ministry.
Kerrie began writing her first songs in high school, performing one during her own graduation. When the time came for college, Kerrie chose to get her degree in Studio Music and Jazz Vocal Performance at the University of Miami. “Little kids have dreams. For me, it was ‘I’m going to be a singer.’ And I never grew out of it,” she says with smile.
Given the compassionate family and ministry that molded who Kerrie is, it is no surprise that her work displays as much heart and intellect as breathtaking talent. Or that, thematically, it explores the raw nature of faith, hope and love. These are songs for the broken—and truthfully, that’s each of us.

Best-selling author and pastor Max Lucado calls Lisa one of the “best Bible tour guides around,” and speaker Priscilla Evans Shirer adds, “Her God-given ability to not merely teach the Word but package it in a way that stirs the heart and calls to action is incomparable. When she speaks, ears perk up!”
She’s had eleven books published including A Perfect Mess: Why You Don’t Have To Worry About Being Good Enough For God and her latest, Believing Jesus: Are You Willing To Risk Everything?. She also has three best-selling video-based Bible study curriculums with LifeWay: Malachi: A Love That Never Lets Go; Hebrews: The Nearness of King Jesus; and Mark: The Jesus We’re Aching For (which just released in ‘16).
Yet when asked about her credentials, the most noticeable thing about Lisa Harper is her authenticity. During a recent interview she said, “I’m so grateful for the opportunities God’s given me but don’t forget, He often uses donkeys and rocks!” She went on to describe her greatest accomplishment to date as getting to be Missy’s mama. Because in April 2014, after a difficult two-year journey, Lisa finally got to bring her adopted daughter home from Haiti and she hasn’t stopped grinning since.
You won’t want to miss this hilariously gifted storyteller. She will step on the stage here at Lake Yale at 7:00pm on Saturday, September 17th. Get your tickets now!!
